The duo identified as Suhaib Reyaz and Anayat Ullah Iqbal, both residents of Saidapora Payeen, confessed to their involvement in the terror attack.
Two non-local labourers from Uttar Pradesh were killed in Harmen area of South Kashmir's Shopian district in the grenade attack.
Deceased has been identified as Puran Krishan Bhat, a Kashmiri Pandit. The injured was shifted to the hospital where he was declared dead.
Jamaat-e-Islami was declared an unlawful association in 2019, but it continued to raise funds in various forms on the pretext of charitable purposes.
Two killed terrorists were identified as Hanan Bin Yaqoob and Jamshed, who, according to the police were involved in the recent killing of special police officer Javed Dar in Pulwama.
Police said that the encounter broke out in Nagbal area of Shopian when security forces and police cordoned the area after information about presence of terrorists.
The alleged terrorist and his aides opened fired on two local Kashmiri Pandits killing one Sunil Kumar, and seriously injuring his brother namely Pitambar alias Pinto.
Reports said that terrorists in yet another incident of targeted killing shot dead Sunil Kumar, son of Arjun Nath, and seriously wounded his brother Pintu Kumar who has been rushed to hospital for treatment.
The firefight started after a joint team of police and security forces got an input about the presence of terrorists in that area.
