Senior BJP leader and Union Minister of Rural Development and Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan has written a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, accusing her of being anti-farmer for not implementing centrally-funded schemes for ryots' welfare.
Chouhan also highlighted that increasing use and dependence on chemical fertilisers, indiscriminate exploitation of natural resources and unstable weather have put pressure on the soil.
He said the lab-to-land gap between science and farmers has to be reduced. ''We are continuously making efforts to ensure timely delivery of correct information from scientists to farmers. Krishi Vigyan Kendra is also making many efforts in this direction,'' he added.
Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Chouhan on Monday held discussions with members of farmers’ organizations here, as part of his dialogue with farmers and farmers’ organizations.
Chouhan welcomed all the presidents, conveners and farmers of the farmers' organisations.
Mr Chouhan said continuous work is being done under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the overall development of the agriculture sector.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy and is also the base of our life and it is the biggest responsibility of the government to provide food security to 140 crore countrymen.
