Congress Working Committee member and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor has reversed his stance on industrial growth in Kerala. Making a U-turn on his position, the Congress leader on Sunday said that startups should not remain confined to paper alone.
Speaking on intra-party conflicts in the Congress, Tharoor said, “Some in my own party oppose me, but I speak for India and Kerala’s future.
Tharoor took to his social media account to share this and wrote on his X handle that in the Kerala calendar his birthday is this day.
He said the Congress must look beyond its committed voter base for the 2026 Kerala assembly elections. “If they fail to do that, the party would find itself in the opposition for a third consecutive term,” Tharoor warned.
Tharoor shared a Facebook post commemorating slain Youth Congress activists Kripesh and Sarath Lal, who were killed in Periya, Kasaragod.
The result is likely to be declared between 3 pm to 4 pm. The ballot boxes from the state headquarters have reached the counting place in the Congress office.
Thirunavukkarasar summed up the election in Tamil Nadu by stating that Kharge had majority support in the party in the state, and the voting trends indicated the same.
The Voting for Congress President polls concluded Monday evening. Congress witnessed a contest for the president post after 22 years on Monday with senior party leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor pitted against each other. No member of the Gandhi family contested for the post of President.
Congress MP Francisco Sardinha on Monday claimed that the Congress is the "only party" which can defeat the BJP and hence Rahul Gandhi should now stop the Bharat Jodo Yatra and go to Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat to campaign for the Assembly polls.
Voting will be conducted across all state and union territory offices from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. About 67 booths have been set up, according to the party's Central Election Authority (CEA).
