Pak rakes up Indian missile firing with UN chief
Pakistan continued to act with restraint and responsibility, the Foreign Minister said.
Pakistan continued to act with restraint and responsibility, the Foreign Minister said.
Due to weak health systems and meagre resources, millions in the developing world have suffered enormously and mostly in silence, he added.
Joining the angry Saudis, Pakistanis also condemned the Foreign Minister's sitting position, calling the act "against diplomatic norms".
"His remarks cannot be in any way be misconstrued as advocacy for a particular side in the Afghan conflict", Pakistan's Foreign Ministry clarified over Shah Mehmood Qureshi's statement.
He commented, “I remember Shah Mahmood Qureshi was in the meeting which Imran Khan had refused to attend and Chief of Army Staff General Bajwa came into the room, his legs were shaking, and he was perspiring. Foreign Minister said for God’s sake let Abhinandan go, India’s about to attack Pakistan at 9 PM.”
The Minister however, added that more work is needed to be done as Pakistan's action plan was perhaps the most ambitious and challenging one ever handed out to any country.
Qureshi's statement comes hours after External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that India is willing to discuss outstanding issues with Pakistan bilaterally in an atmosphere free of terror and violence.
After New Delhi revoked Article 370 of the Constitution which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated the state into two Union Territories on August 5, tensions have been on the rise between the countries.
Pakistan on Tuesday said that it would take the Kashmir dispute with India to International Court of Justice, for abrogating Article 370
Within Pakistan, support from China, which was the only one it received, boosted the Chinese image.
