Pak rakes up Indian missile firing with UN chief
Pakistan continued to act with restraint and responsibility, the Foreign Minister said.
Pakistan continued to act with restraint and responsibility, the Foreign Minister said.
Due to weak health systems and meagre resources, millions in the developing world have suffered enormously and mostly in silence, he added.
Joining the angry Saudis, Pakistanis also condemned the Foreign Minister's sitting position, calling the act "against diplomatic norms".
"His remarks cannot be in any way be misconstrued as advocacy for a particular side in the Afghan conflict", Pakistan's Foreign Ministry clarified over Shah Mehmood Qureshi's statement.
He commented, “I remember Shah Mahmood Qureshi was in the meeting which Imran Khan had refused to attend and Chief of Army Staff General Bajwa came into the room, his legs were shaking, and he was perspiring. Foreign Minister said for God’s sake let Abhinandan go, India’s about to attack Pakistan at 9 PM.”
Saudi Arabia viewed the summit as efforts by certain Muslim countries to create a new Islamic bloc.
Qureshi is on the final leg of his tri-state visit aimed at diffusing US-Iran tensions, as instructed by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Ties between India and Pakistan came under severe strain after New Delhi revoked Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and bifurcated it Union Territories on August 5.
Qureshi will also have meetings on the Capitol Hill, besides engagements with the media and think tank community.
The much-awaited corridor will facilitate visa-free movement of Indian pilgrims, who will have to just obtain a permit to visit Kartarpur Sahib.
