The Supreme Court on Friday sought response from the Tamil Nadu government on a plea seeking to recall its judgment granting bail to the state minister Senthil Balaji in an alleged money laundering case relating to cash-for-jobs scam.
Strongly condemning the opposition and the media for spreading stories based on imaginary information that Stalin had met Adani and the state had signed a contract with the corporate entity to purchase solar power at an exorbitant rate, Balaji took to ‘X’ to post a lengthy defence and clarification.
A bench of Justice Abhay S Oka and Justice Augustine George Masih was surprised at the development, noting that Balaji’s appointment raised legitimate concerns regarding the independence and confidence of witnesses.

Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials on Monday took custody of Tamil Nadu Minister V Senthil Balaji from the Puzhal prison in a money laundering case after a court granted custody to the agency following the dismissal of related petitions by the Supreme Court. ED officials took Balaji from Puzhal prison to the ED office.
The plea will now be referred to a larger bench
