Scotland

Scottish question

An independent Scotland is not easy. British law would require approval from Westminster, which depends on consent from Prime Minister Boris Johnson to hold a binding independence vote. Johnson is not keen to become the Prime Minister who lost Scotland.

Scotland’s future

Ms Sturgeon has said she will not hold an illegal “wildcat vote” on the issue of referendum, arguing that it would not actually lead to Scotland becoming independent because the result would not be recognised by the UK government or the international community.
