Members of Samyukta Kisan Morcha will meet on 8 June in New Delhi and decide on the next course of action,” said Mr Yogendra Yadav.
The Mahapanchyat will be held at the Eco Garden and had been scheduled before Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the repeal of the three contentious farm laws on November 19.
"The party stands in support of farmers in the entire nation," party leader Rajeev Shukla said at a press conference here on Monday. "We demand that the Prime Minister and the UP Chief Minister take strict action against those who have committed this crime so that it does not appear that the government is against the farmers."
Bhartiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait said that we are hopeful that this government will listen to us after the nationwide Bharat Bandh. He said that all farmers across the nation have supported the bandh. It was supported by over 100 farmer unions, 15 trade unions, political parties and several state governments.
The 'Kisan Sansad' called by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of farmers' unions, at Jantar Mantar near Parliament will also call for the resignation of the Narendra Modi government over not repealing the contentious farm laws.
The Morcha, an umbrella organisation of protesting farm unions, along with the Bharatiya Kisan Morcha, Ganna Kisan Sangharsh Samity (constituents of the SKM) and other farm unions, are campaigning in poll-bound states and appealing to the people, including farmers, students and civil society to not vote for the BJP in the Assembly elections.
