Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has condemned the incident and has questioned the law and order situation in the state. "When senior politicians are not safe in the state, then what will happen to the common people," he said.
"The BJP contests elections with money and hiring big companies. The SP is preparing its workers on the ground to fight the BJP," said Yadav.
The chief was speaking at a training camp for party workers at the historic religious town of Naimisharanya.
The Samajwadi Party president made an appeal to the voters to beware of the conspiracy of the BSP.
Nitish Kumar said talks are underway with all Opposition parties for a united forum in the run-up to the Lok Sabha polls.
"Samajwadi Party is fighting BJP at every level in UP. It will defeat BJP in Lok Sabha elections," the SP leader said.
“Every section of the society is angry with them (the BJP) and now they all want to get rid of the BJP government at any cost," claimed the SP chief.
The two leaders – both former chief ministers – acknowledged that they have received invitations to join the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
The Samajwadi Party president said that the BJP government, which has allegedly failed on every front, is now putting Samajwadi Party leaders and workers in jail by filing false cases to divert the attention of the public.
