Hockey India named a 20-man squad for the World Cup qualifier tournament on Monday. Pool A includes India, Japan, Pakistan, and host Indonesia, while Pool B includes Malaysia, Korea, Oman, and Bangladesh.
Youngest in the family, the six-foot-four-inch drag-flicker, took up hockey at the age of 11. His father was running a small sports goods shop in Faridkot. Rupinder made his international debut in May 2010 in Sultan Azlan Shah Cup which India won.
With this victory, the defending champions registered their highest ever victory margin in the history of the Asian Games.
