In a significant step towards implementing India's first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has commenced trial runs on Sahibabad–New Ashok Nagar section of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor.
These facilities will be available at commercial spaces within the premises of RRTS stations near the entry and exit areas, enhancing passenger convenience," a spokesperson of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) said on Monday.

The test run was held on the test tracks in Duhai Depot and the Signalling system and the RRTS trainset operated with each other as per the technical expectations.
In an interview recently with Dipankar Chakraborty, Vinay Kumar Singh, Managing Director NCRTC and in charge of RRTS, said there could be no comparison between the metro and the ongoing RRTS. In fact, the two systems will complement each other.
