The Minister replying to a query by Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy told the House that 48 leopards and 7 royal Bengal tigers have died in different forest divisions in Odisha from 2014-15 to 2023-24.
Expressing his satisfaction, forest minister Jyotipriya Mallick said he will visit Siliguri soon and hold a meeting about development of the sanctuary.

The carcass was disposed of as per the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) guidelines, DFO added.

He along with his father Siddharth Kantilal Shah visited the office of the curator and handed over a cheque of Rs 25,000 to Deputy Curator A.Nagamani towards adoption of the tiger for a period of three months.
