Under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, launched earlier this year, Lucknow has emerged as the frontrunner by installing the highest number of rooftop solar panels in Uttar Pradesh in just seven months.
Rooftop solar (RTS) power generation capacity under the ambitious PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana has now crossed the 100 MW mark in Maharashtra, an official has said.
One of the common features of houses in India that we all grew up in is a flat roof. Of course, there are huts with roofs made of straw or clay tiles as well as various structures with slanted tiled or metallic roofs but those are indicatives of subpar living conditions.
So far, households have to install the rooftops from the list of vendors allowed by the companies states concerned. The move is going to reduce the installation cost substantially and bring more competition in the market and promote domestic solar rooftops.
The third-party selected by the MNRE would not only evaluate the implementation of the project, but also collect information from state implementing agencies and identify bottlenecks in the existing implementation process, said a senior officer of the MNRE.
