Presiding over a meeting with senior officers of Border Road Organization (BRO) at Headquarter (Project) Atal Tunnel, Rohtang, the Chief Minister directed the BRO officials to expeditiously give final touch to the tunnel, so that the same could be made ready for inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi by the end of September this year.
The tunnel, costing Rs 3500 crore, was the dream project of former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and is hence named Atal tunnel.
Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Umang Narula, in a meeting convened by the Defense Secretary to discuss the issues of the early opening of Zojila and Rohtang passes stressed the need to improve the connectivity of the newly created UT with the rest of the country.
