The Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO) has issued a fervent appeal to the Chief Secretary of Assam, urging swift action to avert a potential road blockade on the Meghalaya-Assam highway.

At an event organised by NHAI/MORTH in collaboration with SaveLIFE Foundation (SLF), Gadkari said the government has accorded the highest priority to road safety and set a target of reducing 50 per cent of the road accident deaths by 2024.
The forest clearance has been received from the Central government for the upgradation of one road in Pachhad constituency and construction of one road in Renukaji Assembly Constituency.
The Committee on Road Safety constituted by the Supreme Court is keeping a close tab on the road accident scenario in the State while suggesting ways and means to curb road accidents, they said.
