A woman sub inspector posted at Outer North Delhi’s Bawana police station was arrested for allegedly taking bribe from the wife of a rape accused on the pretext of getting him anticipatory bail.
The case was registered at the Onnukal Police Station in Ernakulam against six persons including Nivin for allegedly raping a woman in Dubai on December 14 and 15 last year.
Amid outrage over the alleged rape of a 34-year-old woman from Odisha in Delhi's Sarai Kale Khan Area some four days back, the Odisha police on Monday said it is in touch with its Delhi counterparts seeking early arrest of the perpetrators of the dastardly crime.
The police in Harda district of Madhya Pradesh deployed a thermal imaging drone fitted with night vision camera above a thickly forested area to track an absconding man accused of raping a five-year-old girl five days ago.
The complainant and her companion had set themselves on fire outside the Supreme Court on 16 August, after making serious allegations against the police, including SSP Amit Pathak, retired IG Amitabh Thakur and a judge of conspiring against her.
"The government staff involved in the case has been suspended. He has been suspended first and termination will follow," Sawant told the ongoing monsoon session.
CJI Bobde said, “We did not ask him to marry. We asked 'are you going to marry?' We did not say ‘marry’,”
He has called the rape allegations 'baseless' and said he intends to take legal action in the matter.
Sengar has already been awarded life imprisonment for the rape of the young woman from Unnao, who was a minor at that time.
