A prayer meeting is scheduled to be held in honour of late comedian Raju Srivastav on Sunday in Mumbai. According to his family members, the prayer meeting will take place at the Iskcon Temple in Juhu. It is scheduled from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
The funeral was attended by veteran poet-humorists Surendra Sharma, Ashok Chakradhar, and filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar. Fellow comedians and friends such as Sunil Pal and Ahsaan Qureshi too were in attendance.
Srivastava, 58, died after 41 days of hospitalisation. He was admitted to the hospital on August 10 after he experienced chest pain and collapsed while working out at a gym. For over a month after Srivastava was admitted to the hospital, he was on the ventilator.
Kher said: "Despite our so many prayers and rituals, Raju Srivastav, our family friend and elder brother, is no more with us. This news is very painful, and I request everyone to be part of the prayers."
In another statement the comedian’s family members stated that doctors are doing their best and treatment is still going on. They requested to pray for his speedy recovery and thanked all the well-wishers for their constant love and support.
Raju underwent angioplasty on Wednesday and a source has informed ANI that Raju is "responding to the treatment.
