In a major setback for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ahead of the 2025 Assembly polls, former Delhi minister and its MLA Rajendra Pal Gautam resigned from the party and joined the Congress here on Friday.
He added that the party promised to start honest politics in the country and many intellectuals joined the party to bring social change and he too joined it.
According to an affidavit filed by him in 2020, he has movable and immovable assets of Rs 78 crore. A case is also registered against him under Sections 325, 323, 427 and 34 of IPC.
According to the officials, a police team went to Gautam's house on Monday, where he was questioned in the matter.

The AAP Minister, who was seen along with a thousand others at the event, can be heard taking an oath, saying, "I shall have no faith in Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara, nor shall I worship them".
