The great 17th century Maratha leader, Chhatrapati Shivaji is known for his military strategy and diplomacy. While he commanded over 300 forts during his reign, it’s interesting to analyse how Pratapgad—the site of the famous battle between Shivaji and Afzal Shah in 1659 and the first and only hill fort he built—is a prime example of the Maratha warrior’s military genius.
“I had bowed before him (Shivaji) and garlanded his statue. I had wanted to sit at his feet from many years now. While sitting there, we clicked some pictures and posted them on social media and we only had devotion in our minds while doing so,” he said.
