Kickstarting his four days India visit, Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday. Upon arrival, he received a warm welcome from Union Minister Meenakashi Lekhi.
Dahal will begin his schedule the next day (Thursday) by laying a wreath at the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi at 10.30 am.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sewa Lamsal confirmed that preparations have started in the Himalayan country for the visit of Dahal also known as Prachanda.
Responding to a question regarding Nepal's Prime Minister's desire to visit India for his first foreign trip, Bagchi said, "We would be very happy to receive the Prime Minister of Nepal at a suitable convenient date."
President Bidya Devi Bhandari administered the oaths of office and secrecy to the newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Ministers while the Prime Minister administered oaths to the MoS at a ceremony at the President's office Sheetal Niwas, The Kathmandu Post reported.
Dahal's visit will reportedly take place after the election of the new president, said the Nepal-based news agency quoting the two leaders of the CPN (Maoist Centre) who are familiar with the developments.
Nepal's newly appointed Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal aka Prachanda is set to test the floor of parliament on Tuesday amid the uncertainty whether the parties on board will vote for him or not.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated Prachanda on being appointed as Nepal's PM.
Both the leaders discussed ways to further strengthen the ties between India and Nepal.
