Two LeT terrorists killed in encounter with security forces in J-K

The encounter took place in Pulwama's Tiken area.
The encounter started after the terrorists opened heavy fire on the police and other security forces, injuring two soldiers as they saw the joint team of police and army approach their hideout.
According to reports, a joint operation was launched on Monday night at Gasoo, Pulwama by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the army on credible input.
Naikoo, who carried a reward of Rs 12 lakh on his head, took over as the commander of Hizbul Mujahideen after the outfit’s poster boy and commander Burhan Wani was killed in a gunfight with the security forces in Kokarnag area in Anantnag district on July 8, 2016.
Heavy firing exchanges have been going on in the area since Tuesday evening when a massive search operation was launched by the security forces.
The encounter broke out in the morning when a joint team of Indian Army, CRPF and Special Operations Group (SOG) started a search in the village on the basis of credible information of the presence of terrorists.
The hiding militants were challenged after which they opened fire at the security forces, triggering an encounter.
A soldier and a civilian also their lives in the encounter while two other soldiers sustained injuries.
Meanwhile, there were also reports of clashes between stone pelting protesters and the security forces near the gunfight site despite authorities announcing curfew-like restrictions in the area.
