Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena has approved prosecution sanction against five engineers of the Public Works Department (PWD) of the Delhi Government in an alleged scam of Rs 200 crore related to works in government hospitals.
The Supreme Court said on Wednesday that it would consider listing of the pleas challenging the validity of Exception 2 of Section 375 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and that of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita that protects a husband from criminal prosecution for having non-consensual sex with his wife.
Following Governor Gehlot's nod to Siddaramaia's prosecution, the Karnataka government has reportedly decided to challenge it in the high court.
Saxena has also recommended the case to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for further action, as per a communique' issued by the LG office on Thursday.
