Potato prices have shot up in the city by minimum Rs 8 per kg after fear of loss of crop and vegetables due to unseasonal rain.
The tomatoes procured by NCCF and NAFED had been retailed, initially, at Rs.90/- per kg and then reduced to Rs.80/- per kg from 16 July.
This year till day the total available stock of potatoes in the district cold storages is jus 15 lakh metric tonnes.
With the latest revision, domestic LPG cylinders will retail at Rs 999.50 in Delhi.
"I will start from home at 9 a.m. on bullock cart till Vidhana Soudha. Siddaramaiah will begin from his residence at 9.30 a.m. and he will also reach Vidhana Soudha on a bullock cart," Shivakumar stated.
LPG domestic cylinders prices were hiked by Rs 25 today, rising total cost to Rs 911 in Kolkata.
The chicken traders in the city said that the hike in the retails prices was because of the rising wholesale market rates. There is a requirement of about three lakh metric tonnes of chicken feed per year in the state, according to West Bengal Poultry Federation sources.

The government on January 31, raised train fares marginally by one paise to four paise per kilometer depending on the travel class.
