His suspension came hours after Home Minister Amit Shah said that the BJP, which is an alliance partner of the JD(S), will stand with the women.
"Are these women not Hindus? What about their mangalasutras? The PM should speak up," said Karnataka minister Laxmi Hebbalkar.
