The family of Naveen Babu, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Kannur who died by suicide last month, is set to petition the Kerala High Court to revoke the bail granted to PP Divya, accused in connection with his death.
Opposition leader VD Satheesan on Saturday came out strongly against the CPI-M on its attitude towards former Kannur district panchayat president PP Divya, accused in the case related to the suicide of ADM Naveen Babu.
The former Kannur District Panchayat President, PP Divya, who is on remand in connection with the death of Kannur Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Naveen Babu, was sent to police custody till 5 pm on Friday.
A police team took Divya into custody at Kannapuram, Kannur while she was on the way to surrender to the police and took her to the Kannur Crime Branch office for questioning. She will undergo a medical examination before being presented in court.
Divya filed the anticipatory bail plea after police registered a case alleging that her remarks at a farewell function contributed to Naveen's suicide.
The CPI-M state secretariat on Saturday decided not to initiate any party-level action in haste against the former Kannur district panchayat president PP Divya, who has been booked by the police for abetment to suicide in the death of the ADM Naveen Babu.
Allegations have been raised from various quarters stating that Collector Arun K Vijayan was aware that the then-district panchayat president PP Divya would attend the farewell program organised for Naveen Babu and that she would raise allegations against the ADM.
