The polling began at 9 am and continued till 4 pm. The counting of votes will be done on Monday itself. The results are likely to be declared by the evening.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, PCC President Govind Singh Dotasara, Education Minister B D Kalla were among the few first voters who cast their votes, a party spokesman told SNS.

Of the 710 voters in the Congress electoral college from Tamil Nadu, a handful attended the meeting convened by Tharoor to seek support for his candidature at the state Congress headquarters, Satyamoorthi Bhavan on Thursday.
When asked about the candidature of senior party leader Mallikarjun Kharge, who according to sources will be in the contest, Tharoor said that more candidates for contesting the better it will be for the party.

According to the notification, while the nomination forms will be available from Thursday, the filing of nominations will be held between September 24 and 30.
