The meeting of Gurumurthy and Ramadoss assumes significance since the PMK, which has around 3℅ vote share in northern districts of Tamil Nadu, is yet to decide on the issue of alliance for the upcoming 2026 Assembly election.

A day after their public spat, indicating the ongoing power struggle within the first family of OBC Vanniyar-dominant Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), party founder S Ramadoss and his son, Anbumani, president of the party, buried the hatchet and met to resolve their differences at the former’s residence in Thailapuram, near Villupuram, on Sunday.
Infuriated by Chief Minister MK Stalin’s remark that Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S Ramadoss has no work and hence was issuing a statement against the DMK government every day, PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss on Monday condemned it and demanded an apology.
DMK’s Anniyur Siva polled 1,24,053 votes while his nearest rival C Anbmani of the the OBC-Vanniyar dominant Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), an NDA constituent, secured 56,296 votes.
The political arm of the powerful Vanniyar community, the PMK is divided over stitching an alliance in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Ramadoss requested the central government to declare the Lankan Tamils coming to Tamil Nadu as refugees and allow the state government to render them assistance.
He also urged Stalin to make the announcements in the current session of the state Legislative Assembly.
The PMK is the political arm of the powerful Vanniyar community and the previous AIADMK government had ordered 10.5 percent reservation for the community from within the Most Backward Caste (MBC) fold.
PMK founder leader S Ramadoss described the coalition as 'an alliance for people's welfare, a mega-coalition and a victorious alliance.'
