Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday transferred more than Rs 20,000 crore directly into the accounts of over 9.40 crore farmers across India, marking the disbursement of the 18th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.
The initiative benefited 2.25 crore farmers in Uttar Pradesh as part of a total of 9.4 crore farmers across the country, with Rs 4985.49 crore credited to the accounts of farmers in the state.
The day is also celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence. It serves as a reminder of the power of non-violence in shaping societies in an era marked by political, social, and environmental challenges.

It will have facilities including the Hospital Complex with 720 beds, Medical College with 100 seats, Nursing College with 60 seats, AYUSH Block with 30 beds, residential accommodation for faculty and staff, hostel accommodation for UG and PG students, Night Shelter, Guest House, Auditorium etc.
"Lakhs of our brothers and sisters have been denied work and wages under MGNREGS due to the stoppage of central funds to West Bengal since March, 2022. I was informed that many workers have not been paid for work completed in 2021 due to shortfall in funds," he said.
