Prices of both auto fuels reduced only once in April by 16 and 14 paisa per litre, respectively. Diesel prices were also reduced by 16 paisa per litre in Delhi on July 12.
Premium petrol price had already crossed the Rs 100 per litre mark in several parts of the country through increase in the retail rates in the month of January and February.
Similarly, diesel prices also were unchanged in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata at Rs 89.49, Rs 92.17, Rs 89.65 and Rs 87.74 per litre, respectively.
Diesel, on the other hand, was at Rs 87.96 in Mumbai, Rs 85.88 in Chennai and Rs 83.75 per litre in Kolkata.
Sources in public sector oil companies said consumers could get relief from the regular price rise of the two petroleum products in coming days.

According to the Indian Oil website, petrol prices in the major metropolitan cities were up drastically by 16 paise/litre.
