Fuel prices are already touching new highs every other day.
With fuel prices remaining unchanged on Friday, petrol continued to cost Rs 97.76 per litre and diesel Rs 88.30 per litre in Delhi.
In tandem with petrol, price of diesel also increased. In Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata, diesel was sold for Rs 95.44, Rs 92.58 and Rs 90.82 per litre, respectively.
The price of petrol increased by 17-19 paisa per litre while the diesel price increased by 28-30 paisa per litre across metro cities of the country.
In Delhi, the price of petrol fell to Rs 81.86 a litre from Rs 81.99 per litre.
In the national capital diesel was now at Rs 73.40 per litre, as against Rs 73.56 a litre previously, according to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers.
In Delhi, petrol was priced at Rs 82.03, higher by 9 paise from Rs 81.94 on Saturday.
Delhi was the only major city in the country where diesel prices were higher than petrol.
Diesel was priced at Rs 81.05 per litre on Monday in the capital, higher than the previous level of Rs 80.94 a litre.
