The organization will submit its petition to the Director of the Soil & Water Conservation Department today to express its opposition to the proposed handover of the CTI Byrni area for industrial projects. HITO emphasizes that this development poses serious environmental threats.
The Muslim side had filed a recall application challenging the order of January 11, 2024. Recall petition was filed regarding 15 petitions and on October 16, the High Court had reserved its verdict in the case.
When contacted by our correspondent, Nasiar welcomed the decision of the Delhi High Court and expressed his gratitude for expeditious disposal of the case.
Today, in the 68-page long judgement, the court said: “The criminal petition is devoid of merit and is accordingly dismissed and the consequential reliefs sought are dismissed.”
The survey was stayed by the Supreme Court on Monday. The hearing in the petition is slated to take place latest by tomorrow as the deadline for the stay on will expire at 5 pm on Wednesday.
The petition questioned the exclusion of the civic polls in Howrah as the recent Advocate general had earlier stated that governor had signed the Bill regarding the civic polls of Howrah and Bali civic polls. But this contention was denied by the governor, the petition noted, and sought that an investigation be started to find out who has caused the confusion.
"Pass an ad-interim order staying all and any investigation/inquiry/summons or proceedings commenced by ED in respect of the subject matter," Amazon said in its petition.
The main writ petition argues the impugned section clearly infringes the fundamental right under Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution
The apex court also said that the petition is premature as the Election Commission of India is yet to declare the schedule for the Bihar Assembly elections.
The court posted February 12 for the next date of hearing on the matter.
