After an inspection of the Yamuna on boat at Signature Bridge and ITO Barrage, Delhi Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Parvesh Verma said 1,300 tonnes of refuse has been extracted from the waterway in the last ten days to pave the way for a ferry service being planned by the government.

According to the sources, a woman MLA could also be under consideration for the CM's post.

Taking a jibe at former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal over the Yamuna cleaning issue, BJP candidate Parvesh Verma, who is contesting against Kejriwal from the New Delhi assembly seat, on Saturday dipped a cut-out of the AAP supremo into the polluted river water in protest against his promise to make the river clean so that people could take a dip in it.
Verma, aboard a motorboat, carried a cutout of Arvind Kejriwal, symbolically making it take a dip in the polluted waters of the river.
BJP candidate from the New Delhi assembly seat and former MP Parvesh Verma said on Wednesday that he would file a Rs 50-crore defamation case each against rival AAP candidate Arvind Kejrwial and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for "false allegations" that he insulted Punjabis calling them a "threat" to the nation.
