BCCI to adhere to ICC guidelines on team’s Champions Trophy jerseys

Putting an end to the confusion around rumours of BCCI’s refusal to have Pakistan’s imprint on the Indian cricket team’s jersey for the upcoming Champions Trophy, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia on Wednesday said the Indian team will adhere to the International Cricket Council's (ICC) directive during the tournament.

Afghan policy

India’s decision to re-engage diplomatically with the Taliban marks a significant shift in its regional approach. Following the collapse of the previous Afghan government led by President Ashraf Ghani in 2021, India faced a major setback to its two-decade-long investments in Afghanistan’s development and democratic institutions.

By alienating bureaucracy, Imran lost winning edge

The bureaucracy saw Imran Khan as a threat, as someone ready to throw it under the bus to pursue an absolutely political agenda. This perception cemented the image of the former prime minster as someone in whose tenure civil servants had to lie low, stay idle, pass time in as uneventful a manner as possible so that they did not end up in trouble.

Is this the end of the road for Imran?

The elevation of Shahbaz Sharif, who is presently leader of the opposition as Prime Minister is unlikely to bring political stability to Pakistan. Presently, both political parties, PML Nawaz and PPP, have come together to depose Imran Khan, but it is doubtful that this political unity would remain once they start running the government.

PM Sharif

Top priority ought to be given to fixing the torpid economy. The PTI had inherited a stuttering economy that it has left in far worse condition; ordinary people are grappling with double-digit inflation, as well as wage and job losses. There has been a decline too in macroeconomic indicators.
