Afghan policy

India’s decision to re-engage diplomatically with the Taliban marks a significant shift in its regional approach. Following the collapse of the previous Afghan government led by President Ashraf Ghani in 2021, India faced a major setback to its two-decade-long investments in Afghanistan’s development and democratic institutions.

Shaping our world

Lack of friends at a time when India is a significant military and economic power surprises oldtime diplomats. Within living memory, the pendulum has swung from one extreme to the other; in the 1950s and 1960s when we had little to offer to the world except moral guidance, we were the undisputed leader of developing nations.

A difficult phase

He has sought to whip up emotions by alleging that his arrest and a ban on his party are imminent as part of what he calls the “London plan”, a reference to UKbased former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who is charged with being the puppeteer.

A Bleak Future

Many stories circulate about the corruption of leading politicians of Pakistan, the Bhuttos, the Sharifs and the Zardaris etc., but the Army, which was the knight in shining armour, has outdone all politicians by institutionalising corruption. Reports indicate that the Pakistan Army has interests in a number of business ventures. Moreover, senior army officers, both serving and retired, head hosts of institutions in Pakistan, and unashamedly feather their nests

Power plays in Pakistan

Every case pertaining to Imran is personally heard by the CJP and immediate relief is granted. The President briefs Imran on the goings on within the government while refusing to sign orders which could damage Imran’s position.
