Himachal Pradesh government under its flagship programme will transfer benefits worth Rs 4.68 crore to the orphans under Mukhya Mantri Sukh Aashray Scheme (MMSAS).
It directed all District Magistrates to issue necessary directions to district child protection officers to identify orphans, and they could seek assistance from police, civil society organisations, gram panchayats, and the ASHA network.
According to the government spokesman, a monthly financial assistance of Rs 4,000 will be given to a child's guardian or caretaker, till he or she attains adulthood, while those who do not have anyone to look after them will be sent to child protection homes.
