LS Changsan, Additional Secretary of Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stressed on the importance of organ donation and said it needs to become a way of life to give a new lease of life.
The additional secretary of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said, “The government of India has adopted a policy of ‘One Nation, One Policy’ for organ donation and transplantation.”
Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel on Saturday said there is a need to promote organ donation from deceased persons and brain stem dead.
Speaking at the ninth convocation of the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) here, the President Murmu called for more and more awareness campaigns on a larger scale to encourage people about organ donation.

The entire procedure of organ retrieval and transplantation started at 11.30 p.m. on Friday and went on till noon on Saturday.
Organ donation is consistent with the beliefs of most major religions. These religions include Roman Catholicism, Islam, most branches of Judaism, and most Protestant faiths, Hinduism also allows organ donation.
Since the year 2010, Indian Organ Donation Day is celebrated every year to commemorate the contributions made to society by deceased donors and their families.
