Addressing the Indian students at Samarkand Medical University in Uzbekistan, the Lok Sabha Speaker elaborated that the rapid growth in medical research and education in India has created numerous opportunities for the students to work in academic and research institutions.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Sunday said India’s parliamentary committees function as mini parliaments as these committees review policies and programs related to social security, social justice, economic empowerment, and public welfare and provide suggestions for their better execution.

Congress General Secretary in-charge of Organisation KC Venugopal said on Thursday that the Emergency remarks of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla were a “travesty” of Parliamentary traditions.
Earlier in the day, newly-elected Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla censured the imposition of the Emergency by former prime minister Indira Gandhi on 25th June 1975 under the Congress government.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday endorsed the censure motion read by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla against the Emergency in Parliament.
