The anti-corruption vigilance wing of the Odisha Police, on Wednesday, made a seizure of around Rs 2 crore unaccounted cash acquired by unfair means from the residence of an officer in the predominantly tribal Malkangiri district.
The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Thursday conducted raids on the properties of a Project Administrator (PA), Integrated Tribal Development Authority (ITDA) and detected huge movable and immovable assets including cash deposits worth crores of rupees.
The anti-corruption vigilance wing of the state police has logged an impressive 50% conviction rate in corruption cases in 2024, while the rate of conviction in Disproportionate Asset (DA) cases stood at 80%, officials said on Tuesday.
An officer of the Odisha State Police Housing Welfare Corporation, who allegedly amassed ill-gotten wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income, threw away bundles of currency notes worth Rs 10 lakh on a neighbour's terrace here to thwart a raid by the anti-corruption vigilance department on Monday.
The accused identified as Rambhav Gattu, Chief Manufacturing Officer (East), Ambuja Cement, Chhatisgarh, entered into the office chamber of Aditya Goyal, an IAS officer posted as Collector of Bargarh district, said Vigilance sleuths.
The arrested mines officers amassed the wealth in a decade-long career as a government servant.
The vigilance sleuths carried out searches at seven locations in Balasore district in connection with allegations of disproportionate assets against Pravas Kumar Pradhan, Superintending Engineer (SE) of Irrigation, Balasore Division.

The vigilance department conducted raids at four locations on the properties of Bikash Chandra Bhuyan, assistant engineer, Sadar Block, Cuttack, and found one double-storeyed furnished building in Bhubaneswar, bank deposits and jewellery worth over Rs 50 lakh, and investment in crypto currency.
“During the course of searches, 1440 gm gold and a Sabyasachi brand designer necklace worth Rs 24.25 lakh were found in the house of Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy and seized. Steps are being taken for their attachment”, a statement by the vigilance department said.
