Foreign Institutional Investors (FII) bought shares worth Rs 675.14 crore on Thursday while Domestic Institutional Investors (DII) sold stocks worth Rs 51.86 crore, provisional data from the BSE showed.
The NSE Nifty50 traded at 10,233.75 during the afternoon trade session, down just 17.10 points and 0.17 per cent.
The BSE Sensex, which had opened at 36,691.93 points, closed at 36,324.17 points, down 218.10 points, or 0.60 per cent, on its previous close of 36,542.27 points.
Index-wise, the NSE Nifty50 traded at 10,965.45 points (1.34 p.m.), lower by 88.35 points or 0.80 per cent from the previous close.
Index-wise, the wider NSE Nifty50 closed at 11,143.10 points, lower 91.25 points or 0.81 per cent from the previous close of 11,234.35 points.
Both the BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty50 touched their respective record intra-day highs of 38,938.91 points and 11,760.20 points.
