Djokovic has apologised for the way in which the tournament was conducted but not before four players including himself and at least two members from the coaching staff tested positive for the virus.
Following the news that Djokovic and his wife have contracted the virus, the remainder of the tournament was cancelled.
"I am extremely sorry for each individual case of infection. I hope that it will not complicate anyone’s health situation and that everyone will be fine," the Serbian tennis star said.
One member from the Djokovic coaching staff and another from Dimitrov's entourage have also reportedly tested positive for the virus.
