Peace has returned to North-East in last 10 years: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday emphasized the transformative changes in India’s North Eastern region over the last decade, asserting that peace has been restored in the region in the last ten years and the focus must now shift to building an industrial ecosystem.

Bangladesh gutted with violence, north-east braces cluelessness

The south Asian nation has witnessed massive protest demonstrations since last month. In the middle of July, nearly 200 protesters, including students, died in the violence, which was allegedly instigated by police personnel and a large number of supporters of Hasina’s party, the Awami League.

Major infrastructure boost for north-eastern region

The Ministry has sanctioned the construction of 42 roads spanning 118.756 km in Tripura, with an estimated investment of Rs. 114.32 crore. This initiative aims to provide all-weather road connectivity to 47 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) habitations.

N-E insurgency has declined

The Army commander speaking at Fort William during the investiture ceremony today said “Myanmar Army had conducted operations which led to several insurgents group to run to this Indian side and surrender. ULFA-I is not a potent group any more. Indian Army has withdrawn most troops from North East areas while more will be withdrawn if state government decides security situation is normalising.”
