The Prime Minister asked the State Chief Ministers that steps be taken to strengthen districts which are quite large in many States, while the States are also quite large in some cases.
Ms Banerjee claimed that she was stopped from speaking during the NITI Ayog meeting and her mic was switched off.
"This is an insult, and I will not attend any further meetings," said Banerjee, the only Opposition Chief Minister to attend the meeting amid the boycott called by the INDIA bloc CMs.
Kerala Chief Minister and CPI(M) leader Pinarayi Vijayan, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, and the Congress Chief Ministers of Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, and Telangana were the notable absentees from the meeting.
