Mukesh Singh on Monday moved a court in Delhi seeking quashing of death penalty, claiming he was not in Delhi on the date of the crime and further alleged that he was tortured inside the Tihar jail.
Right after the rejection of Sharma's mercy plea was rejected, another convict Akshay Thakur had filed a mercy petition before the President.
A three-judge bench comprising Justices R Banumathi, Ashok Bhushan and AS Bopanna will hear the plea of Pawan Kumar Gupta.
This came a day after the Centre on Friday recommended to President Ram Nath Kovind rejection of the mercy plea of Sharma.
