Trudeau's remarks came after Canadian police arrested three Indians in connection with the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
The police have charged them with first-degree murder and conspiracy in the Nijjar case.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India is ready to investigate the killing but is yet to receive any specific and concrete information regarding it from Canada.
India and Canada are currently involved in a major diplomatic row over the killing of 'Khalistan' supporter Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June.
Canada had accused India of killing Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil.
During a conversation with journalist Lionel Barber on Wednesday, Jaishankar emphasised the importance of credible evidence.
Nijjar, a Canadian citizen, was killed by two masked gunman in the parking lot of a Gurudwara in Surrey, British Columbia in June early this year.
The MEA response came a day after Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly announced that Ottawa has recalled 41 diplomats from India in view of New Delhi’s "intent to revoke their diplomatic immunity" by October 20.
The advisory asked citizens of Canada to keep a low profile in Delhi and exercise high degree of caution while travelling to Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chandigarh in view of anti-Canada protests.
Recently, Joly had said that Canada wants to have private conversations with India on the diplomats' issue.
