The proceeds from the issue of ‘Green Bonds’ will be used for activities such as expenditure on avenue plantation, median plantation, construction of animal underpasses, natural stormwater drainage, streetlights on renewable energy (solar), waste recycling, and reuse and rainwater harvesting.

Initially, the NHAI has identified around 100 toll plazas for live monitoring on the web-based software. These toll plazas have been selected based on congestion feedback received through 1033 National Highway helpline. The monitoring service will be extended to more toll plazas in a phased manner.
The TMC MP has urged the officials of National Highways Authority of India to repair and maintain the service roads properly.
In Maharashtra, a stretch of roadway between Amravati and Akola was completed in 105 hours and 33 minutes, breaking the previous world record.
To complete the job in the lowest amount of time, up to 800 personnel and 700 workers participated, including highway engineers, safety engineers, and surveyors.
The minister threatened to scale up his protests if the demands are not met. “This is the initial stage of our peaceful protest. If the demands remain unfulfilled, we will go in for further protests,” he said. He said that state chief minister Mamata Banerjee had written to road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari but no action had been taken.
The NHAI has already awarded 39 such facilities and the proposals for 103 such sites are at the bidding stage. Authority would add more WSA sites as and when it is identified, the Minister said.
