Gupta, the 50-year-old legislator from Shalimar Bagh, is the fourth woman Chief Minister of Delhi.
Her name was announced by party's two central observers -- Ravi Shankar Prasad and Om Prakash Dhankhar--after a meeting of the BJP legislature party.
Other than the CM, five cabinet ministers were also sworn in alongside her, as Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena administered their oath.
The leader of the Opposition said, “By appointing Atishi, who is a supporter of leftist ideology, as CM, Kejriwal has revealed his own left-leaning face to the public.
Reacting to the AAP’s choice of Atishi to replace Arvind Kejriwal as the CM of Delhi on Tuesday, Yadav said, “Atishi should solve the problems of the people as it has become a habit with the AAP to politicise everything without doing any work.”
Sachdeva claimed that Atishi's elevation was not Kejriwal's choice but a result of Sisodia’s influence within the party.
Kejriwal will formally submit his resignation to Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena around 4:30 pm.
