The FIR state mentions certain isolated incidents that occurred in a few states during the conduct of the NEET-UG 2024 exam held by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 5, 2024, at 4,750 centres across 571 cities, including 14 cities abroad.
The Centre's decision to constitute the seven-member committee comes amid the ongoing crisis around paper leak allegations.
“Please tell the High Courts that notice has been issued now,” the bench told the advocate appearing for the NTA, and ordered, “In the meantime, further proceedings before the High Court shall remain stayed.”
While the BJP leaders alleged that INDIA bloc leader Tejashwi Yadav was linked to the paper leak, the Opposition slammed the ruling party over the UGC-NET and NEET fiasco.

Stating that “Even if there is 0.001% negligence (in the conduct of NEET-UG 2024) it should be looked into”, a vacation bench of Justices Vikram Nath and S V N Bhatti told the National Testing Agency that “it should come forward and admit it” and “We expect timely action from you”.
The top court told the counsel appearing for the NTA that students have prepared hard for the exams and that their hard work can't be forgotten.
Issuing notice on a batch of petitions and seeking response within two weeks, a bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta tagged the present petitions with earlier petitions raising similar issues, which are listed for hearing on July 8.
Seeking a reply from the NTA, the bench remarked, “It is not simply a matter of accepting what you (NTA) have done is sacrosanct. Sanctity has been affected, so we need answers.”
