Rijiju however also said that consultation and coordination between the ministry, IOA and the NSFs must continue and relationships should not be dampened.
IOA Chief Batra, in a notice addressed to all the NSFs, stated that the meetings will be on one on one basis.
Rijiju said with India set to become the third-largest economy in a few year's time, the country cannot lag behind in sports and the prevailing mediocrity in management of National Sports Federations (NSF) is 'unacceptable'.
The Sports and Youth Affairs Ministry had got a substantial raise of Rs 214.2 crore in the interim budget presented in February. The allocation was raised from last year's Rs 2002.72 to Rs 2216.92 crore.
"We are in the process of CEOs to look after all the programmes," the Sports Minister said.
Goel said he personally does not see any harm in letting politicians run National Sports Federations.
