The people of northeast India (NE), who were disturbed by some recent developments deteriorating bilateral ties with immediate neighbours, woke up to an impressive one-to-one meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh interim government chief Professor Muhammad Yunus on Friday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the government will continue to strengthen the country’s maritime sector and ports, which play a crucial role in driving India’s progress and prosperity.
He said he was happy to share India's experience in setting up digital public infrastructure (DPI) with BIMSTEC countries.
BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation), the seven-nation grouping, brings together five Asian nations--India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka--and two Southeast Asian nations--Thailand and Myanmar.
The Prime Minister said, "Greetings to my sisters and brothers of Nagaland on their Statehood Day. The people of Nagaland are known for their courage and kindness.
"Dev Deepawali is special this year because it marks the return of Maa Annapurna," said the PM while addressing the gathering.
'But if someone thinks that the earlier system is better, how is this law stopping anyone,' he said.
The PM appreciated the efforts being taken by the scientists in these companies to come out with a vaccine solution to tackle COVID-19.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, and Parliamentary affairs minister Pralhad Joshi are likely to attend the meeting.
