A special 20-member team landed in Tirupur of Tamil Nadu hunting for the seventh accused in the crime that took place in an isolated place at Chamundi foothills on August 24.
"The police should have filed a case like it was done in the case of Nirbhaya. Why the police have not recorded the statement of the victim yet, even if she does not agree, there is a provision under the law for recording a statement," Opposition leader Siddaramaiah questioned.
Home Minister Araga Jnanendra, who has arrived to brief Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on the development, stated that the operation to nab the perpetrators was successful and he would reveal the details by noon.
The youth stated that the place they went has been familiar to him and he used to jog every day on that stretch. He has told police that all the accused were between the age group of 25 to 30 years.
